Fred Yenerall
1907-1983
Fred Yenerall was a native of Greensburg, a small town in Western Pennsylvania. He was born and grew up on a farm in Sleightown, which is now New Alexandria. Fred was the 7th of 8 Children.
In the early 1960's he began his hobby of photographing Covered bridges, which lead to taking the photographs of other historical buildings. He was always interested in photography.
After he took the photo, he would carefully write down the details about it on his little notepad that he carried in his shirt pocket, he would then transfer that information to the slide.
He always took his camera with him no matter where he went, keeping it in an old metal cooler in his trunk to protect it from the heat and cold of the seasons.
He was also one of the contributors for the Burr Covered Bridge Society‘s book in 1980, helping composing their book of all the covered bridges standing at that time.
Special thanks to Ralph Volpe for updating the early years of Fred's life.
This is his Collection of years of photographing.
UPDATE All the slides have been scanned and are now safe. The rest of his collection will be uploaded as they are restored. I have thousands left to restore. Scanning them to preserve them was top priority. Keep checking back as I will restore them in the next few weeks.
